ABOUT PRESENT

"Wherever you are, be all there." -Jim Elliot

Joy in the present is an idea that God has laid on my heart so much this past year.

Being a planner, I'm prone to be always thinking about 200 miles ahead of where I'm actually walking. And as I wonder about the future, I miss out on what's happening where God has called me to be right now.

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”  -James 4:13-15

While I think it's foolish to not plan for anything, remembering that this life is not about me is so key. At the end of the day, it's not about how many of MY dreams were reached or how successful I am, it's about how I've laid down my life to let God rule in me and through me.

As God works on the sin that runs rampant in my life, these words are pieces of my journey of grace and following my Jesus who has redeemed the purpose of my life and given me new desires.
